POSTPONEMENT OF UACAA 2020 DUE TO COVID-19.
FROM THE ORGANIZERS,
POSTPONEMENT OF UACAA 2020 DUE TO COVID-19.
I write on behalf of URHOBOWOOD International to inform the General Public that the 8th edition of Urhobo Art & Cultural Advancement Award (UACAA) 2020 slated to take place on the 3rd of April, 2020 at Wellington Hotel Effurun, is hereby postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in compliance with government directive that restricted social gatherings to a maximum of twenty (20) persons.
This decision was taken after extensive and elaborate deliberations between Organizers, Hotel Management, Awardees and Invited Guests.
The postponement became necessary to protect the lives of Nigerians from the CORONAVIRUS a.k.a COVID-19 pandemic.
As a law abiding Organization that is aimed at promoting, projecting, protecting and developing the Urhobo Art and Culture, we are obligated to obey government directives and as such, are compelled to postpone the event although it was a hard nut for we to crack as an organization because of the resources and efforts that we have put into the preparation process.
Although it is regrettable to announce the postponement to a later date that will be communicated later, this measure became mandatory in other not to endanger the lives of awardees and invited guests by exposing them to risk.
The organizers sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this might have caused you.
Thank you,
Amb. Dr. Udusan Joseph Orekereke
Lord Mayor of Urhobowood Int'l.
