Urhobo Music Maestro Okpan Arhibo Dies.
Legendary Urhobo music maestro, Joseph Odjewhedje (a.k.a Okpan Arhibo), is dead.
The Konojuvwe crooner, who hails from Agbarho kingdom in Ughelli North council area of Delta State, passed on Tuesday 22nd March, 2022. He died at 75 after battling a kidney ailment.
He was diagnosed in October 2021 and needed N20 million for a transplant.
Funds were raised to support the musician and said to be receiving treatment until news of his death emerged on Tuesday morning.
Chief Arhibo, happens to be the father of popular Nigerian singer, songwriter and rapper Kesiena Okpan Aribo known with the stage name as ShuunBebe alongside his siblings.
He was a driver at the Delta Steel Company (DSC) Ovwian-Aladja before he resigned to face active show business as a traditional musician.
Okpan made waves from the 70s until he went down with the ailment.
Other songs by him include Urhobo Makossa, Urhobo me jevwe, Zabu zabu and so on.
The demise of Chief Okpan is a great loss to the Urhobo nation in General and Urhobo Entertainment industry in particular.
