What to know about Chiwetalu Agu, A Nollywood Actor.

FACT TO KNOW ABOUT HIM.

Chiwetalu Agu, is a veteran Nigerian actor, comedian and movie producer, he was born in the year 1956, in Amokwe, Udi Town, Enugu State, Nigeria. His acting career began in the year 1981, in an NTA drama Things Fall Apart.


Chiwetalu Agu has worked in more than 200 films, including Things Fall Apart, Ripples, The Catechist, Dr. Thomas, Old School, etc. In 2012 he won the 2012 Nollywood award for ‘best actor in indigenous movie (non-English speaking language)’. His usage of specific language slang, phrases or clichés in each film has made him uniquely a household name in Nigeria and among Nollywood admirers abroad. While asserting that comic genres is a unique vehicle in projecting Nigerian culture globally as well as establishing the Nollywood brand.

Agu is listed as one of the outstanding comedians who have contributed to the development of Nollywood comic genres by Prof. Femi Shaka of the University of Port Harcourt. Agu is married to Nkechi and has three sons and two daughters.

Some of his slangs: 'Otone fenem' ‘Ekwensu onwe phone number,’ ‘Ekwensu eh yu éshi ne church,’ ‘Azu Igbogkpo,’ ‘Awunyem ifewa na ime ife.’ He can play any character in a film, sometimes as a womanizer, a native doctor, a wicked man, a funny man and so many more.

He is a living legend in Nollywood that will never be forgotten in Nigeria.
